If the system calculates a spam score for a message that meets or exceeds the Spam Threshold Score setting, the system marks the message as spam. A lower spam threshold score, such as a one, is aggressive and labels many messages as spam, including messages that may not be spam. However, a higher value, such as a ten, is passive and only labels messages that are obviously spam.
To set the spam threshold value, perform the following steps in the cPanel under Spam Filters:
-
Click Spam Threshold Score. The system directs you to the Adjust Spam Threshold Score interface.
-
Select the desired value from the menu.
If a message’s calculated spam score meets or exceeds the Spam Threshold Score, the system will label that message as spam.
For example, an account that uses a Spam Threshold Score of 10 will only mark messages that are obviously spam. A Spam Threshold Score of 2 will label many messages as spam, which includes messages that are likely not spam. We recommend that new users use the default setting of 5. We recommend that an ISP set this score to 8. The Spam Threshold Score does not affect the Auto-Delete Threshold Score.
